She studies religion and global politics. Hurd co-directs Talking Religion: Publics, Politics and the Media and the Global Politics and Religion Research Group at Northwestern. Her most recent public pieces are Three Myths about Religion & Politics and Dangerous Logic at the Border: Religion and the Travel Ban. She is writing a book about the American border as political theology.
